SOUTH AMERICA 2025
With the new enthusiasm for travelling to Iran, the dress code is a much subject of question and curiosity. Here is what one should expect to wear while travel to Iran:
Women’s Dress Code:
Trousers and tunics are the best choice for ladies and they may choose any color they’d like. Heads should be covered with headscarves though it’s not a big deal to leave some hair out as the rules are not so strict. There is no need to wear “Burqa” or “Veil” like some other Islamic countries. Sandals are just fine to be worn. Finger manicure and nail polish are just fine while travel to Iran.
Men’s Dress Code:
Although most Iranian men have adopted western fashions, men are not allowed to appear in public with shorts or underwear.
T-shirts and sandals are fine to be worn.
Notes:
Full body coverage is advised in holy places such as mosques and shrines. ‘Chador’ is often provided/offered for female tourists in holy places.
Since Iranians value cleanliness, shoes should be taken off in homes and holy carpeted places.
In cold seasons, it is recommended that you take items of warm clothing with you.
